This is one of my “scrap books”, which is a binding made from left over material from other projects. I am opposed to just tossing out materials, especially those that are good quality or higher expense.
I chose to make this one as a small notebook or flip-back sketch book using goat leather, hand-printed washi, and cut-offs from larger book signatures.
The binding contains a headband and tailband sewn in with indigo-dyed silk (using the plant). The fore edge is dip-dyed using a blend of indigo and bright blue ink (as a fun experiment).
